Planning approved for major Shannon Airport facelift

Development plan for Shannon Airport includes upgrade to facade and new security fencing

Extra routes will be introduced at Shannon Airport during 2014

Clare County Council have approved a planning bid for a major refurbishment of Shannon Airport.

The planning application, approved last week, details a plan for "the removal and upgrade of the facade to the eastern end of the main terminal building over two stories, reconfiguration of the existing airside personnel and passenger entrance/egress locations, new security fencing, hard and soft landscaping, with the provision of wayfinding and branding signage, including all associated site works".

It alos outlines a development plan which "will consist of the demolition of existing single storey administration offices, consolidation/protection works to the western end of the shared services building".

Shannon Airport have also submitted a planning application for a major extension of their customer car park which would see over 1000 spaces added to the Mid-West airport.
