Parking at Shannon Airport | FILE PICTURE
Shannon Airport have submitted a planning application for an car park extension of over 1000 new spaces at the Mid-West airport.
The proposed development will extend the existing car park providing an additional 1051 parking spaces, by demolishing ten industrial units and relocating "access to the wastewater treatment plant for maintenance purposes".
Shannon Airport had to issue warnings to holidaymakers to "book their parking in advance" this summer, as parking completely sold out for days during June 2024.

The works would also include "a dedicated surface water drainage network, the re-alignment of airside and landside boundary security fence, the re-alignment of the internal perimeter road located airside, and all ancillary associated site works."
A decision is due from the local planning authority, Clare County Council, by October 24 this year.
