Clare County Council to close busy street ahead of upcoming festival

Rekindle is a micro-festival of lost skills, aiming to celebrate the beauty of arts, traditional skills and practices, music and culture

Clare County Council has announced that they will be closing a busy street in Ennistymon ahead of the third annual Rekindle Festival. 

Parliament Street will be closed off for six hours on Saturday, August 16 to facilitate the community event.

The closure will take place between the lane at the courthouse and Monastery Lane from 11am until 5pm. 

Rekindle is a micro-festival of lost skills, aiming to celebrate the beauty of arts, traditional skills and practices, music and culture as well as the people who carry these on.

The festival is returning this August for two days of, what organisers call, "living heritage, community action and cultural celebration." It runs as part of National Heritage Week on August 15 and 16. 

It will take place at both Parliament Street and the Common Knowledge Centre in Kilfenora over the two days. 

Diversions will be in place on the day of the road closure, with alternative routes being N67 - Monastery Lane - Circular Road - Church Hill Road. 

This notice was given in accordance with Section 75 of the Roads Act 1993.

Observations/representations can be made by email to roads@clarecoco.ie or in writing before 4pm on Friday, August 1 to The Administrative Officer, Clare County Council, Roads and Transportation Department, Áras Contae an Chláir, New Road, Ennis, Co Clare.
