Each awardee received a formal recognition scroll and a commemorative plaque in appreciation of their service
The Shannon Municipal District hosted a Special Recognition Award Ceremony recently, celebrating exceptional individuals and groups who have made outstanding contributions to their communities.
The event recognised those who have demonstrated leadership, commitment, determination and hard work at a grassroots level. Awards were presented by Cathaoirleach of Shannon MD, Cllr Pat O’Gorman, who commended the recipients for their dedication and positive impact. Each awardee received a formal recognition scroll and a commemorative plaque in appreciation of their service.
Among those honoured was Mr Michael Rohan, nominated by the Cathaoirleach of the MD himself, Cllr Pat O’Gorman. The Sixmilebridge ICA Guild was nominated by Cllr John Crowe, while the Shannonbanks, Westbury and Carraig Midhe Tidy Towns Group was put forward by Cllr James Ryan.

Parteen Town Team was nominated by Cllr Rachel Hartigan with Mick Guinee, nominated by Cllr Tony Mulcahy. Newmarket-on-Fergus Tidy Towns was nominated by Cllr David Griffin, while Mr Bob Caulfield was nominated by Cllr Michael Begley.
Cathaoirleach of Shannon Municipal District, Cllr Pat O’Gorman, said, "These awards are a testament to the incredible spirit of volunteerism and civic pride that thrives in our area. Each of these individuals and groups has gone above and beyond to make their communities better places to live."
Suzanne Clifford, Senior Executive Officer, Shannon Municipal District, added, "It is inspiring to witness the passion and perseverance of those who work tirelessly to improve our communities. These awards reflect the appreciation we have for their efforts, and we are proud to celebrate their achievements."
