The man, who lived nearby, was pronounced deceased at the scene and his body was subsequently removed to University Hospital Limerick where a post mortem will be carried out
An investigation is underway following the death of a man whose body was discovered on a roadside in Sixmilebridge over the weekend.
Gardaí have confirmed the alarm was raised in the early hours of Sunday morning and that the man, aged in his 60s, was found to be unresponsive when emergency services attended the scene at Rossmanagher Road in the town.
The man, who lived nearby, was pronounced deceased at the scene and his body was subsequently removed to University Hospital Limerick where a post mortem will be carried out.
As of now, there is nothing to suggest the man's death was suspicious and gardai say a file will be prepared for the local coroner.

It's understood gardai are examining the possibility that the man fell or that he may have collapsed having experienced a medical episode.
It's expected an inquest into the man's death will take place in the coming months.
