Limerick City and County Council has announced the return of its built heritage lecture series, revived after a ten year hiatus.
Now funded through the Heritage Council’s heritage stewardship fund, the series is organised by the Council’s Archaeology, Architectural Conservation and Heritage team. They will explore the rich and varied heritage of the Shannon Estuary.
Starting from this week. the lectures are free to the public and will take place at 8pm on dates between September 17 and October 23 at the Fitzgerald’s Woodlands House Hotel in Adare, Co Limerick.

Speaking ahead of the series, Sarah McCutcheon, Archaeologist with Limerick City and County Council, said: “We’re thrilled to bring back the built heritage lecture series, which has always been a valuable platform for sharing knowledge and sparking public interest in our local heritage. This year’s focus on the Shannon Estuary allows us to highlight the unique archaeological and architectural narratives that shape our coastal landscapes.”

The opening lecture will be delivered by Conleth Manning, retired Senior Archaeologist with the National Monuments Service, renowned for his extensive excavation work and publications.
