A LIMERICK man has been charged with additional charges arising from a burglary at Wolfe Tones GAA club in Shannon.
Eddie Carey, aged 31, of De Vere Court, John Carew Park, Limerick first appeared in court in Ennis earlier this year after he was charged in connection with a spate of burglary offences at premises across Clare, Limerick and Galway.
At Ennis District Court on Thursday, an additional 20 charges were brought against Mr Carey to bring the total number of charges that he is facing to 66.
His co-accused, Owen Casey, aged 28, of Salvia Court, Keyes Park, Southill, Limerick is facing 59 charges bringing to 125 charges the total number of charges that the two men are facing.
In court, Judge Alec Gabbett said that the Book of Evidence in the case “will be enormous”.

The two men are facing charges as part of an overall garda investigation into the theft of property with an estimated value of €1m. No monetary value has been put on the alleged multiple burglaries that Mr Carey and Mr Casey are charged with.
Eddie Carey has been on remand in custody since January 19 after he was refused bail and Mr Casey has been in custody since April 13 after also failing to secure bail.
In new charges brought against Mr Carey, he is accused of causing €16,000 in criminal damage to the bar counter of Wolfe Tones GAA Clubhouse in Shannon on July 9 last.
Mr Carey is also charged with arson by allegedly damaging the entrance steps to the Wolfe Tones clubhouse on the same date.
In evidence, previously heard at a bail hearing, Detective Garda Aoife O’Malley said it will alleged that Mr Casey along with two of his associates were involved in burglaries and the theft of high-value vehicles across the Mid-West with a combined estimated monetary value in excess of €1 million.
Det Garda O'Malley said the garda investigation, into 92 separate incidents, commenced out of Ennis garda station last July. The alleged offences include 31 commercial burglaries, 24 residential burglaries and 27 unauthorised taking of vehicles between January 2024 and March 2025.
Det O’Malley said that it will be alleged that the high value vehicles were stolen-to-buy for another criminal network for financial gain.
She added that the burglaries were “highly organised” and she alleged that there is video evidence which captured some of the vehicles as they were being stolen.
During the court proceedings, the detective did not put a specific monetary value on the offences that Mr Casey is charged with.
Judge Gabbett remanded the two accused in custody via video link to re-appear before Ennis District Court on Wednesday next, May 28.
