Gardai seek witnesses after vehicles are damaged in car parks of Clare supermarkets

Gardai in Ennis are investigating both incidents

Gardai in Ennis are appealing for witnesses after two cars were damaged while parked in shopping centres in the town.

In the first incident - on May 7 - a car was damaged in the car park of the Aldi store at Kilrush Road. "This incident occurred between 9.20pm and 9.30pm. The owner parked their vehicle, a grey Volkswagen Golf estate in the car park and during this 10-minute window the chrome trim was stolen from the rear window of the vehicle," said crime prevention officer Sergeant Catriona Holohan.

In a separate incident, another vehicle was damaged just outside the entrance to the Dunnes Stores multi-storey car-park, four days later.

According to investigating gardai, this incident occurred on Sunday, May 11 between 7.30pm and 7.50pm.

"The front windscreen of this vehicle, a blue Volkswagen estate, was smashed and a dent caused to the roof just above the windscreen," said Sgt Holohan.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed either incident or who may have witnessed someone acting suspiciously in either car park to contact them.
