Gardai have confirmed they seized several items which they believe were being used for illegal hunting during a multi-agency search operation in north Clare.

As part of Operation Lexi, which was launched late last year, a number of searches were carried out in Ennistymon on January 31.

"These searches were conducted in Ennistymon town in a multi agency operation involving members of An Garda Siochana, Customs and Revenue Officers and Wildlife Officers," said a spokesperson.

"This successful operation led to the seizure of items used in illegal hunting, suspected cocaine pending analysis to a value of €2500 and, furthermore, a substantial amount of cash," they added.

Gardai say a number of suspected stolen power tools were also seized and they are appealing to members of the public to come forward if they recognise any of the tools as being theirs.
