Clare County Council has confirmed its plans to install traffic calming measures along a stretch of a busy road on the outskirts of Ennis.

In a public notice, the local authority says the works will take place on the R352 Regional Road at Lifford, Knockanoura, Cappahard, Newpark, Roslevan and Knockanean.

The works will include construction of raised road surfaces to upgrade existing cycle lanes, raised pedestrian and cyclist crossings, a raised speed table at Ballymacahill crossroads, modified junctions and roundabouts.

According to the public notice, there will be an overall reduction in the width of the roadway while existing 'ghost islands' will also be removed.

"Associated works shall include landscaping, planting, drainage, alterations to footpaths, installation of new kerbs and shared surfaces, dropped kerbs and tactile paving together with modifications to / installation of all necessary traffic signs and road markings and road reinstatement thereafter to collectively upgrade the existing cycling infrastructure under the Tulla Road Rapid Implementation Cycle scheme," states the notice which can  be viewed here.
