Clare's local radio station Clare FM has, once again, been recognised for its outstanding contribution to broadcasting with six nominations in the year's IMRO Radio Awards.
It's the highest number of nominations the station has ever obtained for what are dubbed the 'Oscars of the radio industry in Ireland".
In the Documentary Category, the feature length special ‘Concrete Jungle’ had been shortlisted. It was produced by Programming Director Padraic Flaherty and tells the story of Clare connections to 9/11.
Atlantic Tales, produced and presented by Pat Flynn has been shortlisted in the Magazine Programme category, while “story behind the song” has been shortlisted in the short feature category.
Alan Morrissey, presenter of Morning Focus and Clare FM Sports Editor Derrick Lynch have been shortlisted in the Local Speech Broadcaster of the Year and Local Sports Broadcaster of the Year categories.
Clare FM is also in the running once again for Local Station of the Year - an award which it won in 2023.

Across he country, a total of 139 programmes or people from independent radio stations have been shortlisted in various categories including news, current affairs, sports, music, entertainment, community issues and social action broadcasting, work by DJs, and interactive listener programmes.
Michael Kelly, Chief Executive of the Independent Broadcasters of Ireland, commented: “This shortlist highlights the superb quality of the programming provided by Ireland’s independent radio sector. We in the Independent Broadcasters of Ireland congratulate all the talented presenters, producers and programme-makers in the independent sector on this amazing achievement in having so many people and programmes chosen for places on the IMRO Award shortlist.”
The IMRO Radio Awards are open to the independent radio sector across the island of Ireland as well as all of the RTÉ and BBC radio channels.
The awards, which take place at the Lyrath Hotel in Kilkenny on October 4, are sponsored by IMRO, representing the rights of music creators in Ireland, and Coimisiún na Meán, the independent regulator for broadcasting and on-demand services in Ireland.
