Spend an enchanted evening at King John’s Castle this Christmas

A magical event awaits visitors to King John’s Castle this Christmas time with the Castle courtyard being transformed to host our signature show A Christmas Tale at the Castle. The medieval walls will come to life with colourful illuminations in an immersive 3D lighting and animation show, projected onto the Castle walls, bringing the Castle courtyard to life this Christmas.

A Christmas Tale at the Castle is an outdoor event, followed by carol singers, and food vendors serving up some delicious food. The courtyard is festively decorated, lending itself to heart-warming photo opportunities, whilst costumed characters mingle with the crowd. Finish off the evening with a visit to our King John’s Castle gift shop. A Christmas Tale at the Castle is a family fun-filled event you don't want to miss this Christmas.

This will be King John’s Castle’s first Christmas since the ownership of Limerick city’s premier tourist attraction was transferred to the Council-owned Discover Limerick DAC company from Shannon Heritage in April.

Mary Kelly, Sales and Marketing Manager with Discover Limerick DAC said: "We are delighted to open up the Castle courtyard to the public for this unique event, never before seen in Limerick. Reaction to the show has been very positive, so much so that we hope to build on this event for next year."

Running for a limited time only on selected dates until December 21. Ticket prices: € 9.50/ child and €11.50/ adult, with family discounted tickets available.

Separately, we are very happy to lend our support to the Christmas Giving Tree Appeal in aid of University Hospital Limerick’s Children’s Ark Unit again this year.

"We are kindly asking people to place an unwrapped gift under our Giving Tree in the Siege café up until the 19th December.

"All donated gifts will be delivered to the boys and girls in the Children’s Ark Unit in UHL. It is such a worthy cause and we are delighted to support this initiative,” added Mary Kelly.
