WATCH: Ennis parade thrills Clare crowds this St Patrick's Day

BRIGHT spring sunshine added a welcome sparkle to the Ennis St Patrick's Day parade.

Thousands made their way from the parade route from the Clare County Council headquarters at Áras Contae an Chláir to Bindon Street with community and sporting groups to the fore.

The Grand Marshals for the 2023 annual parade were: Jimmy O’Brien, who is associated with Ennis Rugby Club since 1964; Aisling Rynne, the great grandniece of Mike McTigue, professional boxer from Kilnamona, who held the middle weight title of Canada the heavy weight title of Europe and was the light heavy weight champion of the World and and PJ Purcell, a great grandnephew of 'honest' John Purcell, a Barefield athlete who achieved Irish and World Records in the long jump and triple jump in the 1880s.

Pre-parade entertainment was provided by Comhaltas Ceoltoiri Eireann and the Ennis Gospel Choir.
