SPOTTED! Crowds gather in Irish city to catch a glimpse of Hollywood star Liam Neeson

Northern Ireland actor is filming scenes in Limerick city for major feature-length movie

Hollywood has officially arrived in Limerick city where actor Liam Neeson was spotted filming this Tuesday morning.

Crowds gathered to watch the filming and try sneak a photo of the Northern Irish movie star, sporting a rust-coloured jacket and a cap.

The three-time Golden Globe-winning actor, who hails from Co Antrim, is known for his work on major hits including the Taken franchise, Schindler's List, and Christmas favourite Love Actually, among many others.

A number of locations in the city centre have undergone major transformations to create a 1990s-America streetscape for the movie.

The transformation includes the installation of 'Mini Mart' signage on an existing shopfront while US-style rubbish bins and newspaper stands have placed on footpaths. Vintage American cars have also been parked on the streets to replicate the period in which the film is set.

Liam Neeson is reportedly playing an ex-bank robber named Danny, whose teenage granddaughter, Paige, is the light of his life. When she overhears her grandfather say that his former gang is pulling him back in to pay a debt, she enlists her three best friends to rob the bank, sparing him.

Production of the film, titled 4 Kids Walk into a Bank, is being overseen by the aptly-named Robbers Productions DAC, in collaboration with Limerick City and County Council and An Garda Síochána.

No information has been confirmed regarding the production timeline and the release date of the movie.
