This September, during World Alzheimer’s Month, Bluebird Care, in partnership with Dunnes Stores, is bringing a groundbreaking experience to Clare.
The Dementia Bus—a first-of-its-kind virtual simulator—lets people experience the disorientation and memory loss that those with dementia face daily.
With over 55,000 people living with dementia in Ireland, this immersive roadshow offers an eye-opening glimpse into their world.

It's an essential step towards building empathy and understanding within our communities, which are key to improving the quality of care, says Suzanne Ryan, Managing Director at Bluebird Care Ireland.
“Being able to share and respond to the emotions and experiences of another person builds empathy and understanding,” Ms Ryan said.
“We all fear the unknown, and dementia can be a worrying experience for the sufferer and their family. Importantly, this type of initiative by Bluebird Care gets us all talking about how we can make our communities more inclusive for those with dementia, which is hugely positive.”
This initiative supports the World Alzheimer's Day call to develop a more dementia-friendly society for the more than 55,000 Irish people who suffer from the disease.
The Dementia Bus will be at Dunnes Stores Friar’s Walk Ennis this Friday, September 6, from 10:30am – 5pm.
