Met Éireann issues weather update as fresh warnings are issued

Strong winds and heavy rainfall forecast for several counties

Met Éireann issues weather update as fresh warnings are issued

Met Éireann is warning of localised flooding and difficult travelling conditions as the latest band of bad weather is set to pass over the south of the country.

The national forecaster has issued a status yellow wind and rainfall warning for Cork and Kerry and is advising people living in those counties to be vigilant and to exercise caution.

The warning, issued early this Monday morning, will be valid from 7pm until 6am on Tuesday.

"From Monday evening to Tuesday morning, there will be very strong and gusty west to southwest winds and spells of heavy rain," states the warning.

According to Met Éireann, possible impacts include falling branches, damage to temporary structures, localised flooding, poor visibility and difficult travelling conditions.

Meanwhile, in its latest forecast, it says it will be generally cloudy and increasingly breezy this Monday with rain in the south pushing northwards over the country. Met Éireann says it is likely to remain mostly dry in Ulster until evening time.

Some heavy falls are likely with the chance of some spot flooding in the south and southeast. Highest temperatures of 7 to 10 degrees with fresh to strong and gusty southeast winds, veering southwest in the south later in the day.
