THE STAFF at Mungret Medical Centre celebrated with family and friends after one year of helping their community in their newly-equipped practice in the heart of the village.

The journey to opening the centre was a long one for Dr Brian McEllistrem, as he says it was “something we've been thinking about for a few years and it took quite a bit of time to find a suitable premises and to make sure that it kind of suited our needs.”
As for nurse, Susan Hogan, she discussed her role by saying she provides phlebotomy services, antenatal and postnatal care, to name a few. As she has a specialist qualification in women's health and sexual health, she also provides care to patients presenting with conditions in those areas.

Dr Muireann Clifford spoke about the other services on offer by the practice as a whole, listing everything from childhood immunizations, chronic disease management, to travel health consultations. In terms of specialised services, Dr Clifford said, “we provide sexual health screening, contraceptive services, menopause care and musculoskeletal injections.”
The centre is open from 9am to 12 pm, and then 2pm to 5pm, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday and 9am to 12pm on Thursday. Medical administrator Daniela Cussen said, “fill in the form online and send it back to us and we will be in touch for an appointment.” Alternatively, she continued, “you can just come in and pick up the form, fill it in or if there's anything urgent then you can be seen on the day.”
