The winner of the Clare GAA life-changing 'Win a house in Ennis' raffle has been announced.

Danny McAlinden from Miltown Malbay was chosen as the winner at the draw which took place a before large attendance at Hotel Woodstock in the town.

On the night, the raffle was overseen by Superintendent John Ryan from Ennis garda station.

A total of 14,798 tickets (€100 each) were sold over the past number of of months with the overall winner being given a choice of taking the newly-built, four-bedroom house or €330,000 in cash.

The home in Derrymore is a detached new-build worth around €360,000.

Speaking at the raffle, which was live-streamed by ClareGAA TV, the Chief Operating officer of Clare GAA Deirdre Murphy thanked the chairman Kieran Keating,  who couldn't be there on the night, for his hard work in supporting the raffle.

She said: "It is he [Kieran] who led this project himself and have, with the clubs, pushed it so hard and really brought an energy about it.

"There was maybe a lot of scepticism at the start, if we could go at Win a House in Ennis for a second year, but the leadership that has been shown is just immense. Everybody gathered for a finish and it was a very exciting last couple of days."

A number of other draws for Clare clubs took place, including that of return flights for one lucky Clare native abroad who sold raffle tickets overseas. Mary Considine Doheny won that prize of return flights home to Ireland.
