A man in his 60s has died following a crash in County Louth, in which a woman in her 20s was also injured.
In a statement, An Garda Siochana said emergency services were called to the collision involving two cars on the N53 at Rassan in Dundalk at around 10.15pm on Monday.
The man was the driver of one of the vehicles and was pronounced dead at the scene.
His body was removed to Louth County Hospital, where a post-mortem examination will take place.
The coroner has been notified.
The woman was travelling in the second car and was taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Gardai say diversions are in place while forensic investigators examine the scene.
They are appealing for any witnesses to come forward and say investigations are ongoing.
