An infant who was critically injured in a car crash on County Louth at the weekend has died in hospital, gardai have confirmed.
They say they continue to investigate the two-car collision which happened on the R132 at Dowdallshill in Dundalk shortly after 8pm on Saturday, December 6.
The female driver of the first car, aged in her late 20s, was removed from the scene to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda with non-life-threatening injuries while a passenger in that car, an infant boy, was removed to Temple Street Children’s Hospital in Dublin, where has since passed away.
The male driver of the second vehicle, who is aged in his early 50s, and the female passenger - a teenager - sustained non-life threatening injuries.

Investigating gardai have renewed their appeal for anyone who witnessed the collision or who may have video footage to come forward.
"Any road users who may have camera footage, including dash-cam, and who were travelling on the R132 in the Dowdallshill area between 7:50pm and 8:20pm last Saturday are asked to make it available to investigating gardaí," said a garda spokesperson.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Dundalk garda station on 042 938 8400, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any garda station.
Forensic and technical examinations of the scene of the collision were carried out at the weekend.
