As the Independent TDs Michael and Danny Healy-Rae are set to team up with Fianna Fáil, Fine Gael and a number of other Independents in the next government, the Kerry brothers have been discussing their plans for the Dáil.

Speaking on Wednesday outside the Dáil, Michael Healy-Rae suggested that Trump should consider taking on the help of Danny in any future negotiations regarding the war in Ukraine.

The Kerry TD said: "If President Trump is looking to get any able person to assist him in stopping the war in Ukraine he couldn't carry a better person than Danny Healy-Rae with him, because his negotiating skills over the last number of weeks are second to none."

Michael Healy-Rae also confirmed today that he will be a junior minister in the upcoming government. This will be the first time the TD will take up a position in the government.

When pressed on what department he will be assigned, Healy-Rae said that was a matter for "the upcoming Taoiseach."

He also said that he wants to see a "return of common sense" in the government.

He added: "What we would like most of all is that this government gets back to basics and gets back to the basic things that the people need, what the farmers need, what the tourism sector needs and all the different things that we’ve been highlighting."

The TD said that himself and Danny Healy-Rae will use their position to support the people of Kerry as well as the rest of the country.
