A man has been arrested on suspicion of the murder of Jo Jo Dullard as gardai prepare to search land in Co Wicklow.
The man, aged in his 50s, was arrested on Monday and is being detained at a Kildare garda station.
Two private residences were also searched by gardai on Monday morning.
Josephine “Jo Jo” Dullard went missing on November 9 1995 after spending an evening socialising in Dublin.
Gardai launched a fresh appeal on Saturday into her disappearance and murder to mark the 29th anniversary of when she was last seen missing.
On Monday, gardai said an arrest had been made and a search is to be carried out on open ground at a location in Co Wicklow near the Wicklow-Kildare border.
The land is to be searched, excavated and a technical and forensic examination is to be carried out in the coming days.
Gardai said the Dullard family are aware of the developments.
The arrest and search operation is being led by the investigation team from Kildare Division Serious Crime Unit and the Serious Crime Review Team at the Garda National Bureau of Criminal Investigation.
An Garda Síochana has also appealed to anyone with any information, no matter how small or insignificant, to contact Naas Garda Station on 045 884 300 or any Garda station.
Anyone who wishes to provide information confidentially can contact the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111.
