Van driver dies after his vehicle collides with lorry

A man has died in Co Sligo after his van collided with a lorry.

Gardai are appealing for witnesses to the road traffic collision which occurred shortly after 6am on Sunday on the N15 at Urlar, Drumcliffe.

A spokesperson said: “The driver and sole occupant of the van, a male in his late 20s, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

“The driver of the lorry was taken to Sligo University Hospital for assessment.

“His injuries are not life-threatening.”

The scene is currently preserved for examination by garda forensic collision investigators, and traffic diversions are in place on the N15 at Urlar, between Drumcliffe and Grange.

The local coroner has been notified, and a post-mortem examination will be arranged.

Gardai are appealing for witnesses and anyone with camera footage, including dashcam footage, who was travelling between Drumcliffe and Grange at the time of the collision, is requested to make it available to them.
