The father of missing Kildare man Trevor Deely has passed away, it has been announced.

Michael Deely passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 1, and was surrounded by his loving family, in the care of the staff at TLC Centre in Maynooth.

Michael was the beloved husband of Ann and dear father of Mark, Michele, Pamela and Trevor, who is still missing.

Since his son’s disappearance over 23 years ago, Michael tirelessly searched for answers and never gave up hope that one day he would be reunited with his youngest child.

Tragically, over two decades after his son’s disappearance, Michael has passed away without ever getting the answers he searched so hard for during the last 23 years of his life.

A number of tributes have been paid to Michael Deely on RIP.ie.

One former classmate said he had "fond memories of our days at St Brendan’s National School in Loughrea".

Another condolence described Michael as "a tremendous servant of the Irish Agri Food Industry throughout his professional career, those of us who were fortunate to know and work with him will remember a man of total integrity, passion and diligence".

They added that "his human qualities set him apart; he was of gentle disposition and sincerity in his interactions. If he could not do you a good turn he certainly would not do you a bad one".

Michael's removal is set to take place on Saturday to the Church of Our Lady and St David, Naas, arriving for 10am Mass, with the Funeral taking place immediately afterwards in St Corban’s Cemetery.

The Funeral Mass for Michael Deely can be viewed by online here.
