Uninsured driver tested positive for cocaine outside primary school

A driver caught by gardaí parked outside a primary school in an uninsured car then tested positive for cocaine use.

Gardaí in Kilkenny were out on patrol on Tuesday morning when their Number Plate Recognition System alerted them to the car outside a local school just after 9am.

It had no insurance, NCT or tax.

"We got very serious quick when he also tested positive for cocaine use," a social media post from gardaí outlined.

"And just so we are absolutely clear - there is and never, ever will be a valid excuse to drive while under the influence of drugs," gardaí outlined.

Gardaí added that there was "no excuse" for such driver behaviour.
