An Garda Síochána have confirmed this evening to the Leitrim Observer that Gardaí in Carrick-on-Shannon, along with local emergency services, responded after the body of a man in his late 50s was discovered.
The body was found on February 4, on lands at Leitrim Road, Carrick-on-Shannon.
His body has been transferred to the mortuary at Sligo University Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
The local Coroner has been informed, and the results of the post-mortem will guide the direction of the Garda investigation.
The scene is currently preserved for further examination.
