Speed restrictions and delays across all rail networks in the wake of Storm Debi

SPEED restriction of 80kph in place across the entire rail network this Monday morning as a safety precaution due to weather alert, Irish Rail have announced.

The transport company posted the announcement on their official social media channels, and added that delays to services on all routes are expected in the wake of Storm Debi.

Met Éireann has predicted that it will be stormy in many areas this morning as Storm Debi continues to track northeastwards over the country. Severe and damaging wind gusts are expected leading to some disruption.

Several rail services around the country have been delayed due to the weather and a number of bus transfers are in place due to damaged lines.

The 11.05 Sligo-Connolly service will operate as bus transfers from Sligo-Boyle and will resume as a train service from Boyle-Connolly.

Services between Heuston and Cork were operating with delays of almost an hour this morning, while the 10.35 Belfast-Connolly is operating with delays of up to 20 minutes due to poor weather conditions.
