Car Thefts on the rise and it's not where you are expecting them to occur

CAR THEFTS saw an alarming surge in numbers last year and not just in public spaces but also right outside peoples front doors.

According to statistics from An Garda Síochána, 2022 saw a 52% increase in car theft versus 2021.

It is believed that over 4,000 vehicles were stolen in Ireland during 2022. 

The most terrifying thing about these figures is the fact that the cars could be stolen from homes and driveways just as easily as anywhere else. 

Phone Watch, Ireland's leading security company, have a number of tips to deter car thieves. 

The company suggest using a steering wheel lock or immobiliser, installing a dashcam and one of the most obvious of all but one people constantly forget, simply locking the car behind you. 

Using these simple tricks could put your mind at ease in relation to car thieves.
