Major safety issues have been identified in two electrical products sold to hundreds of Irish consumers.
According to the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC), the issues were discovered in the Globe Festoon String Light Bulb Chain, and the Tomshine Indoor/Outdoor String Lighting Chain.
Both of the products were sold on Amazon.
The Globe Festoon lights (Amazon ASIN number B075N6RDM3, model number LR-GE(25)V(220-240V 7W)AK) present a risk of electric shock due to insufficient creepage and clearance distances. This can cause accessible metal parts to become live over time and under fault conditions.
If a consumer were to touch a metal part, they could receive an electric shock.
There are approximately 252 of these affected products in the Republic of Ireland.
The Tomshine Indoor/Outdoor String Lighting Chain (Amazon ASIN number is B07NW4YH8Y, model number LRO-C-25-7-S1) also presents a risk of electric shock for the same reason as the Globe Festoon lights.
There are approximately 665 affected products in the Republic of Ireland.
If you purchased one of these products please discontinue use immediately and keep it out of the reach of children.
You may wish to contact Amazon to see if there are any remedies available to you. This can be done via your user account on Amazon.
