Man dies after explosion in Co Donegal

Worker dead after explosion in Co Donegal

A man has died following an explosion in Co Donegal.

The incident happened on the outskirts of Bunbeg in the county’s Gaeltacht region on Monday.

An Garda Siochana evacuated the area as part of its response.

Gardai described the incident as “serious”.

The road on which the incident took place was closed and local diversions were put in place.

The National Ambulance Service and the Donegal Fire Brigade attended.

The Irish Defence Forces Explosive Ordnance Disposal was also requested.

The Defence Forces said its response remained ongoing late on Monday.

The incident has been referred to the Health and Safety Authority.
