Clare County Council says a 'short section' of the road, at Cappa, Kilrush is being closed for safety reasons

Motorists are being advised that part of the Coast Road near Kilrush has been closed after part of the sea wall collapsed during Storm Éowyn.

In a post on social media, Clare County Council says a "short section" of the road, at Cappa, is being closed for safety reasons by a crew from the West Clare Municipal District.

There are no reports of any injuries arising from the collapse.

Meanwhile, the local authority is advising members of the general public to exercise extreme caution when travelling and moving outdoors again in the aftermath of Storm Éowyn.

Following the lifting of the status red wind warning, a status yellow remains in place until 4pm this Friday.
"Clare County Fire and Rescue Service is working in conjunction with Clare County Council’s Municipal District Engineering Crews to restore connectivity across the road network. This work will continue over the coming days," said a spokesperson.
"The fall out of Storm Éowyn has resulted in large amounts of debris, fallen trees and power lines on the county’s roads," they added.
Clare County Council says it dedicated helpline will remain open until 8pm on Friday.
