Construction of new footpaths proposed for popular tourist destination in Clare

Clare County Council has announced plans to introduce new traffic calming measures along the road leading to a popular holiday park in a key tourist area. 

The proposed works is the construction of a footpath along the L2004 from a Clare County Council Estate to Amigos Holiday Park in Carrigaholt.

This comes as Amigos Holiday Park has applied to the council for planning permission to develop 48 fully serviced mobile home spaces, seven fully serviced holiday pod spaces, ten campervan spaces as well as an area for camping facilities in Carrigaholt. 

They have also sought permission to regularise unauthorised works on the site and install a new sewage treatment system, which would require the removal of ten existing mobile home spaces.

The council's proposed footpath's would include roadside alterations, fencing, drainage passing bays, kerbs, public lighting and 1.8m wide footpath along the south side of the L2004 including accommodation works at existing entrances.

Submissions or observations in relation to the proposals may be made by email to roads@clarecoco.ie or in writing to Administrative Officer, Transportation Section, Clare County Council, Áras Contae an Chláir, New Road, Ennis, Co. Clare before 4:00 p.m. on Monday, December 8.
