Kilkee native Jake O’Regan has won the Irish Life Half Marathon

Jake O’Regan, a native of Kilkee, has won the Irish Life Dublin Half Marathon, making this his first ever win, with a time of 1:07:18. 

Speaking on this incredible news, Jake said: “That is the fastest ‘half’ I’ve run this year, and I feel there’s still a lot more in the body. It’s a big confidence boost heading into the Dublin Marathon next month, I knew I was clear after five or six kilometers and tried not to look back, just kept ploughing forward.” 

The runner-up for the half marathon was Gavin Curtain from Donore Harriers with a time of 1:08:33 while David Glynn from Swords, secured third place for the second year in a row with a time of 1:09:47. 

Meanwhile, the leader board for the women’s race was Caitlyn Harvey of Roadrunners AC claimed her first Dublin Half Marathon victory in 1:18:44, with Maebh Brannigan (Galway City Harriers) in second with a time of 1:18:57, and Dublin’s Fiona Stack third in 1:21:30. 

The 2025 course followed the same layout as 2024, beginning and ending in Phoenix Park with a brief detour via Castleknock Gate.

Pacers supported finishers from 1:30 to 2:30, while water and Lucozade Sport stations provided runners with hydration across the course. 

Families and supporters were able to watch from the Irish Life Zone on Furze Road, with outdoor games, face painting, and a cheer area near the finish line. 

Upon completion of the half marathon, all finishers received a medal designed by NCAD student Lily Cruickshank Whyte, inspired by the oak tree as a symbol of strength and resilience.
