The Ennis Municipal District (MD) has been asked to assess the possibility of cutting back overgrowth that is obstructing views of the "beautiful" Ballyallia Lake.
In a meeting of the Ennis MD, Fianna Fáil Councillor Clare Colleran Molloy brought forward this Notice of Motion, saying that despite recent works being completed in the area: "There is always something we can continuously improve on."
Cllr Colleran Molloy also noted that if this request is carried out, it will "ensure that the lifeguards can see what's going on, on the lake."
In a written reply, Executive Engineer Donnagh Murphy confirmed that recent works have taken place around Ballyallia, which saw upgrades of footpaths and edging as well as the removal of weeds and some overgrowth.

Delving further, Mr Murphy disclosed that the Clare County Council Environmental Section, and more specifically the Gardening Team, have also completed work in recent weeks, involving de-hedging and overgrowth removal in front of the famed lake. He noted that this was carried out in co-ordination with the National Parks and Wildlife Service to improve the view for lifeguards who tend to the lake.
The engineer confirmed that the council had completed an appropriate assessment screening in advance of carrying out the works.
Mr Murphy said, "Furthermore, the Environment Section are also considering additional hedge cutting for the next bathing season to improve lake visibility for the lifeguards and will complete the necessary risk assessments and appropriate screening as required."
Seconding the motion was Fianna Fáil Councillor Antoinette Baker Bashua who said, "I just think Ballyallia is such a beautiful resource out there and to see it, so I welcome it. Equally, I saw the amazing pictures this week of it being cleared (regarding recent works carried out in the area) and it looks fantastic."
