MMOD Solicitors traces its origins to F.F. Cullinan & Co. which was founded in 1892 by Francis Faris Cullinan.

The firm’s legacy of legal leadership was strengthened when Bryan McMahon joined as a partner, eventually taking over the practice in 1944 until his passing in 1985.

It continued to grow its reputation for integrity and professionalism and his son, Brian McMahon, joined the firm in 1965 and led it for decades with distinction.

Renowned for his deep legal knowledge, steady judgment and unwavering commitment to clients, Brian became a cornerstone of legal practice in the region.

Under his guidance, the firm earned the trust of generations of families and businesses. Brian’s influence shaped not only the legal direction of the practice but also its ethos of care, discretion, and approachability — values that continue to define MMOD today.

In 1986, Isobel O’Dea joined the firm and became a partner in 1993. She was appointed as Clare County Coroner in 1993, a position she still holds and was the first female Coroner appointed by the Local Appointments Commission.

With nearly four decades of dedicated service, Isobel has played a vital role in the development and culture of the practice, becoming one of the most-respected solicitors in the region.

Bernard Mullen joined in 2017 and became a partner in 2019, bringing new insights while upholding the firm’s longstanding traditions.

Lisa and Saranne are pleased to confirm that both Isobel and Bernard will remain with the firm as consultants, supporting the new leadership and offering continuity, wisdom, and client familiarity.

Commenting on the transition Isobel O'Dea said: “I have every confidence that Saranne and Lisa will lead MMOD into a bright future. Their dedication and expertise ensure that our clients will continue to receive the highest standard of care and professionalism.”

Lisa and Saranne also credit the strength of the practice to its dedicated team: “We are incredibly fortunate to work alongside a highly experienced and supportive staff. Their knowledge, warmth and professionalism are at the heart of what makes MMOD a trusted and approachable firm,” they said.

Under this refreshed leadership structure, MMOD Solicitors will continue to provide comprehensive legal services in property law, landlord and tenancy, probate, Wills, family law, litigation, personal injury, debt collection, licencing and more — with a strong emphasis on accessibility, professionalism, efficiency and client care.

The transition has been warmly welcomed by clients and colleagues alike, who praise the new partners’ commitment, experience, and passion for the law.
