Clare County Council offices in Ennis
Clare County Council have confirmed the date which they will consider the nomination of candidates for the upcoming Irish Presidential Election.
The Special Meeting will be held in the council chamber of Áras Contae an Chláir. It will take place next Monday, September 22 at 2pm.
So far, three candidates have secured enough backing to ensure their names are on the ballot paper next month, with the election taking place on Friday, October 24.

Fine Gael's Heather Humphrey's is in the running and currently topping the polls as favourite to be elected as President of Ireland.
Fianna Fáil has selected former Dublin GAA manager Jim Gavin as their pick for President while Independent TD Catherine Connolly secured the support of the Labour party and the Social Democrats to run.
Another hopeful is Gareth Sheridan, an Irish entrepreneur and businessman. He has currently received two council nominations so far from Tipperary and Kerry out of the four needed to officially be on the ballot paper.
Barrister Maria Steen and Lawyer and business owner Nick Delehanty are also aiming to generate enough support to make a bid for the Áras.
The deadline for nominations in the Irish President Election is Wednesday, September 24 at 12 noon.
