Identifying and repairing these leaks will help Uisce Éireann to achieve their 2030 goal of a 25% national leakage rate

The road to a more reliable water supply is in sight for Alva, Creegh in Co Clare as Uisce Éireann crews are gearing up to arrive this coming week.

The team are making it their mission to revive the water supply in the village area, with works taking place along the R483.

As part of Uisce Éireann’s National Leakage Reduction Programme, a replacement will be carried out on 800m of aged water mains that are prone to bursts.

Jack Cronin, Uisce Éireann programme manager, is eager to get to work in the area, and deliver great benefits for the community.

He said, “Leakage reduction remains a notable priority for the banner county and replacing these old water mains that are in poor condition will ensure a more sustainable water supply, eliminate existing leaks, and significantly reduce the amount of clean drinking water lost into the ground, protecting our most precious resource. We would like to thank the local community for their support and patience in advance as we carry out these essential works."
