The National Transport Authority confirmed that all reports relating to taxi drivers in Clare came under the category of overcharging and other matters related to the fare
In 2024, the National Transport Authority (NTA) received a notable number of complaints involving taxi drivers in County Clare.
With nearly all complaints arising from the same location, a freedom of information request into the NTA has revealed that an astonishing 1,713 complaints were made to the body last year.
In Clare, four incidents involving taxis were reported.
The first complaint of the year was reported on January 16, 2024 at an undisclosed location in the county and just six days later, another taxi driver was reported on January 22 at Shannon Airport.

Following on from this, just under a month later on February 21, the NTA received yet another complaint regarding a taxi driver at Shannon Airport.
The final complaint of the year within Clare came on July 19 where, for the third time, a taxi driver at the Shannon Airport was reported.
The National Transport Authority, while remaining vague on exact details, confirmed that all four reports relating to taxi drivers in Clare came under the category of overcharging and other matters related to the fare.
The outcome of these complaints is not yet known.
