A total of 3,147 students across Clare are due to sit State Examinations this year
More than 3,000 students from across Clare will begin their State Examinations this Wednesday morning following months of preparations and study.
Nationally, more than 136,000 candidates are due to commence their Leaving Certificate, Leaving Certificate Applied and Junior Cycle examinations at schools and exam centres across the country.
According to the State Examinations Commission, a massive logistical exercise is being undertaken to ensure the secure distribution of around 4 million examination papers to the examination superintendents who are responsible for supervising the written examinations - in Clare and across the country.
In the Banner County, 1,378 candidates have registered to sit their Leaving Certificate while 1,669 are expected to sit the Junior Cycle exams. A further 100 will sit their Leaving Certificate Applied examinations.

Depending on subject choices, the Leaving Certificate examinations will continue until Tuesday, June 25 while the Junior Cycle examinations will finish on Monday, June 17.
The exam papers will be corrected over the coming weeks with the results of the Leaving Cert examinations being released on Friday, August 23.
The results of the Junior Cycle exams won't be released until early in the new academic year, which begins in September.
Speaking ahead of the start of the examinations Martin Sisk, interim chairperson of the State Examinations Commission said: “There is no doubt that the State Examinations are a landmark event in the lives of young people and their families. On behalf of my fellow Commissioners and all of the staff of the SEC, I wish to offer sincere best wishes to all those taking the certificate examinations this year and also to the parents, guardians, and families who have supported candidates through their
educational journey up to this point.”
