West Clare councillors have called for a free shuttle bus from Corofin to the Burren National Park to be better advertised "as a matter of urgency".
At the May meeting of the West Clare Municipal District, Cllr Joe Killeen called on Clare County Council and the National Parks and Wildlife Service to better advertise the service, which runs 14 times a day, seven days a week, with the first bus leaving Corofin at 9.30am and the last bus returning from the park at 5.15pm.
Cllr Killeen praised the service, but said it needed to be better promoted and "more widely advertised".
He also asked that the shuttle bus service be rolled out more widely across the Burren, linking with the Burren Centre at Kilfenora and further on to Lisdoonvarna and the Cliffs of Moher.
In reply to Cllr Killeen's motion, Carol Gleeson, UNESCO Geopark manager, tourism directorate, stated that the Burren Ecotourism Network was "promoting the Bus on the Visit the Burren Facebook page", and shared a video that had been released and shared about the bus service.
