According to the national forecaster, the mercury hit 18.6 degrees at Shannon Airport on Sunday
Shannon Airport was one of the warmest places in the country on Sunday, Met Eireann has revealed.
According to the national forecaster, the mercury hit 18.6 degrees at Shannon - the fifth highest temperature recorded at its 25 weather stations across the country.
The highest recorded temperature (20.1 degrees) was at Newport Furnace in Co. Mayo while the lowest temperature (12.6 degrees) was recorded at Malin Head in Donegal.

In its latest update, Met Éireann, says there will be further sunshine in most places this Monday afternoon with temperatures of between 12 to 18 degrees.
It will be mostly cloudy on Monday night with isolated patches of drizzle and mist. Lowest temperatures of 4 to 7 Celsius in mostly light north to northwest breezes.

Isolated patches of drizzle will die out on Tuesday morning and the rest of the day will be dry. Mostly cloudy at first but sunny spells will become fairly widespread by early afternoon. A cooler day with top temperatures of 12 to 16 Celsius.
