Visiting restrictions at University Hospital Limerick due to Norovirus outbreaks

VISITING restrictions have been introduced at University Hospital Limerick as part of the management of outbreaks of Norovirus on several wards at the hospital.

The UL Hospitals Group says it is restricting visiting on all inpatient wards at UHL, as a precautionary measure.

In a statement, issued this Sunday, a spokesperson said: "We regret the inconvenience this will cause for inpatients at UHL and their loved ones, but the restrictions are necessary at this time, to protect the safety of patients and staff, and to keep essential healthcare services open for all patients."

UL Hospitals has moved to reassure patients and their loved ones that all appropriate infection control precautions are being followed to minimise the risk of spreading infection among staff and patients within our health facilities.

The only exceptions to the visiting restrictions are as follows.

Parents visiting children in hospital
People assisting confused patients (e.g. dementia) 
People visiting patients who are critically unwell or at end of life 
 

All exceptions will be on a case-by-case basis and are limited to one person per patient only.
