Clare charity to stage fundraising night with popular country singer

Country artist James Kilbane will perform for the event

A FUNDRAISING event will see a popular country singer make an appearance to support adults with terminal illnesses.

In a bid to raise funds for the Clare’s Wish Foundation, the only Irish charity dedicated to providing wishes exclusively to adults with terminal illnesses, their ‘Irish Night’ event will take place at The Cappamore Community Hall on Friday, April 14 at 8pm.

To help raise funds, the event will see multi-platinum and award-winning singer, James Kilbane, perform numerous traditional tunes.

Founded in 2013 and celebrating 10 years of wish granting, the foundation is supported entirely by individuals, businesses and community groups.

The Clare’s Wish Foundation aims to allow people with a chronic or advanced condition to have their wishes and dreams come true.

Charity founder, Kevin Clancy, commented:  “We have been amazed at some of the requests that we receive. Some examples of special requests include, one person's wish was for a helicopter flight experience. Others include a wish is for a log cabin to give extra space and time away from their children while going through serious treatments.”

“Another sufferers final wish was to come to Ireland from Portugal and to hug a father one last time. The foundation has also been able to organise and grant so many special requests. Such dreams may include taking a family vacation, attending an event, purchasing a desired item, or meeting someone special,” added Mr Clancy.

Over the years, the special meet and greets have included national and international stars, such as Brian Adams, Lionel Richie, Spandau Ballet, Rod Stewart, Brendan Shine, and several others.

Tickets for the event are available from O’Dwyers Bar, Main Street, Cappamore, or from the Clare’s Wish Foundation website.
