Thousands of people who live on the outskirts of Limerick city will not be able to have their say in picking Limerick’s new directly elected mayor.
The areas of Shannon Banks and Westbury while seen as almost part of the city, are in an area administered by Clare County Council.
It means those living across the Athlunkard Bridge will not be able to decide who becomes Limerick’s new executive mayor.

This area also covers parts of south-east Clare like Parteen, Clonlara, Meelick, Shannon Town and Bunratty.
