Maskada winning the Grand Annual in 2023 PIC: Sportsfile
1.30 - Gallagher's Novices' Hurdle - BALLYBURN (2/5) will win this race. He swerved the Supreme to come here for the longer trip and looks made for it. He has beaten the Slade Steel who won the Supreme this season and none of these should get near him. PREDATORS GOLD (10/1) is a good eachway shout if Ballyburn's price is too short for you.
2.10 - Brown Advisory Novices' Chase - I think FACT TO FILE (4/5) could be the best horse at Cheltenham this week and hopefully he gives a performance to match that. He was beaten by American Mike on chasing debut but has won twice since. He beat Zanahiyr by 17 lengths and then won on his own in a two-horse race at Leopardstown in which Gaelic Warrior unseated while miles behind at the last. Fact To File's galloping speed that day was incredible and he's been tearing up the gallops at home in Mullins' yard. He's the apple of his trainer's eye and could be very special.
2.50 - Coral Cup Handicap Hurdle - This is a good betting race and I've landed on SA MAJESTE (5/1) because it's just too hard to ignore his run to beat Noble Yeats at Limerick over Christmas. Noble Yeats is rated 152 over hurdles and subsequently won the Cleeve Hurdle. That would suggest Sa Majeste's mark of 140 is very lenient and he could be a cut above these. Jigoro (14/1) and Lucky Place (14/1) are good eachway bets in my book.
3.30 - Queen Mother Champion Chase - El Fabiolo (8/15) will go in my accumulators on Wednesday because I think he will win but at those odds, you can look around for an eachway bet. ELIXIR DE NUTZ (28/1) fits that bill for me. I was impressed with his win over Jonbon at Cheltenham in January. He would like the ground to dry out a bit by all accounts but can still run a big enough race and get some place money.
4.10 - Glenfarclas Cross Country Chase - This race is subject to an 8am inspection because the course is so soggy but if it does go ahead I'm a big fan of COKO BEACH (4/1) who will like the heavy ground. He has a touch of class and won his first try over the cross country fences easily at Punchestown recently. He had the likes of Genois and Stattler behind him that day and stayed on very well in heavy ground. Minella Indo and Delta Work warrant huge respect but I'm with Coko Beach.
4.50 - Grand Annual Chase - MASKADA (9/1) could win this again for the in-form Henry De Bromhead yard. He is running off an 8lb higher mark this year but was mightily impressive last year and hasn't done much wrong since. He was only eight lengths down behind Champion Chase favourite El Fabiolo in Cork in December. Henry's horses are running well so I'm happy enough to side with him again. Unexpected Party is another with a good eachway chance at 16/1
5.30 - Champion Bumper - This is very often a pin in the paper job and this year is no different. You can make a cause for almost all of them. One at a nice eachway price is C'EST TA CHANCE (20/1) for the huge Willie Mullins team. C'Est Ta Chance was just a short head behind arguably the best bumper horse in Ireland this year, William Munny, at Navan in January and has been put away for this. William Munny has won at Naas since and would be contesting favouritism for this race if lining up.
Wednesday Treble: Fact To File, Ballyburn and El Fabiolo ALL TO WIN - 3/1
Add Sa Majeste if you're feeling lucky and the fourfold accumulator odds go up to 18/1
