5 Clare names in RTÉ Choice Music Prize 2022 album list

One of the music industry’s biggest event will return and continue its principal role in championing Irish music – and 5 Clare names are in their comprehensive 2022 album list.

To celebrate the best in Irish recorded music, The RTÉ Choice Music Prize has become one of the music industry’s highlights of the year, since its inception in 2005.

This year, the following 5 Clare artists and bands are eligible for the prize:

Ceara Conway for 'CAOIN', Daithi for his album 'I'm Here Now', Aoife Doyle for 'Infinitely,' Siomha for 'Infinite Space, as well Téada for their new album 'Coiscéim Coiligh.'

Key dates for this year’s The RTÉ Choice Music Prize were announced on the Tracy Clifford Show. The live event will take place on March 9 in Dublin, as well as celebrated with an exclusive live broadcast on RTÉ 2FM - along with a TV-special on RTÉ2 later that month.

Three new prizes have also been announced – Irish Artist of the Year, Irish Breakthrough Artist and Classic Irish Album.

Head of RTÉ 2FM Dan Healy said this year has been another year of incredible music and performances from Irish artists and musicians, which they have continued to celebrate across 2FM.

“We are looking forward to giving all this year’s RTÉ Choice Music Prize shortlisted songs and artists the support they truly deserve and to getting behind the three new categories, which will make a welcome addition to this important celebration of the very best in Irish music”, he added.

Last year, the winners were Dermot Kennedy for his song “Better Days”, and For Those I Love for their album of the same name.
