Clare FM agrees ten-year contract with Coimisiún na Meán

Clare FM has signed a new ten-year contract with Coimisiún na Meán

COIMISIÚN na Meán has announced the award of new sound broadcasting contracts for several counties across Ireland, including Clare.

The local broad-format radio services will be continue to be provided by the existing local radio stations including Clare FM in the Banner county.

The other broadcasters are Galway Bay FM (Galway city and county), LMFM (Louth/Meath), Midwest Radio (Mayo) and WLR FM (Waterford city and county).

Each of the broadcasters signed new 10-year contracts between August and December 2023, following licensing processes commenced by An Coimisiún’s predecessor, the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland.   

Commenting, following the signing of the contracts, Broadcasting Commissioner, Celene Craig said: “Coimisiún na Meán is delighted to have entered into new 10-year contracts with these broadcasters, all of whom have been delivering to listeners in their respective franchise areas a diverse range of high-quality local content that both entertains and informs. I wish each station every success during their new contract term."

Ms Craig added: “An Coimisiún is committed to helping maintain a diversity of services and range of service options for radio listeners across Ireland and looks forward to continuing its licensing activities in the new year.” 

Clare FM’s programme director Padraic Flaherty commented: “We are thrilled to be signing this contract. It is a major milestone for our station and a true testament to our commitment to delivering quality radio for our listeners. At Clare FM, we pride ourselves on being a station that truly understands and reflects the needs and interests of our local audience. We strive to bring you up-to-date news, sport and information, the best music and engaging programming, and a sense of community and connection.

"On behalf of myself and all the entire team we would like to say a sincere thank you to our advertisters, contributors and our listeners who tune into Clare FM each and everyday.”

With the new contract, Clare FM says it aims to continue serving the community, fostering a strong sense of local identity, and keeping the people of Clare connected and informed.
