Clare footballer named Croke Park/LGFA Player of the Month

NIAMH O’Dea from Clare’s Banner Ladies has been honoured with The Croke Park/LGFA Player of the Month award for October 2023.

The 30-year-old forward was in scintillating form during her side’s march to the 2023 Munster Senior Club final. and she was excellent in the Clare County Senior final victory over West Clare Gaels, when she scored 1-3.

That victory set up a Munster Senior Championship semi-final clash against former All-Ireland champions Mourneabbey from Cork, where Niamh produced a performance for the ages.

Banner Ladies ran out 3-17 to 4-13 winners after extra-time in a thrilling encounter at Cusack Park, Ennis, and Niamh contributed a remarkable tally of 3-6 from play on the day.

Banner Ladies lost out to Waterford’s Ballymacarbry in last weekend’s Munster Senior Club final, with Niamh, an outstanding player for club and county over many years, contributing to her side’s scoring tally.
