Alert: Met Éireann warns of heavy rainfall and hail in Clare ahead of the weekend

A status yellow rain warning is in effect for Clare

MET Éireann is warning of heavy showers of rain in Clare, some of which may prolonged.

The forecaster, which is urging caution, has issued a status yellow rain warning for Clare and Kerry.

The alert, which was issued on Wednesday night, remains valid until 6am on Friday.

"Heavy showers will be prolonged or thundery at times with local hail, and some spot flooding is likely," it states.

Gardai and the Road Safety Authority are appealing to motorists to exercise caution if driving during any bad weather.
