Gardai have highlighted the detection on social media

A BUS was among the vehicles which was detected speeding close to a County Clare school during the week.

Gardai have revealed that members of the Clare Roads Poling Unit made the detections while conducting a speed check on Thursday morning near a school in Ennistymon.

"A number of vehicles were detected speeding in this 50km/h limit zone including a 52-seater coach which was travelling at 89km/h," read a post on social media highlighting the detections.

At least six other cars were detected speeding on the same morning and it's understood fines have been issued to each of the drivers.

Gardai around the country have been carrying out speed enforcement checkpoints close to schools over the past number of weeks.
